Our vision is to create a nation of Americans empowered to work together for the common good. In pursuit of that goal, Volunteer Visionaries provides bite-sized volunteer activities as dynamic as your life.
To kick off our work helping communities connect and care for each other through volunteerism, we're asking experts (that's you!) to help us make service activities more impactful, fun, and achievable to take part in. We're re-envisioning service from top to bottom, and we need your help!

Background
Elaine Zabriskie is a community builder, grant strategist, and advocate for sustainability and civic engagement. As the Grants Manager at Jannus, Inc. and a member of the City of Boise’s Community Climate Action Committee, she helps connect innovative programs with resources that create lasting impact. Elaine has a proven track record of collaboration across government, business, and nonprofit sectors—most notably leading a successful $1.24 million federal grant and coordinating Idaho’s 2024 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) State Plan.
Previously, Elaine served with the Idaho Workforce Development Council, Conservation Voters for Idaho, and AmeriCorps VISTA, where she combined creativity and leadership to advance equity, workforce readiness, and environmental awareness—including authoring a children’s book to inspire youth involvement in community initiatives. A University of Idaho honors graduate with a degree in Landscape Architecture, Elaine now channels her passion for service as the Volunteer Director of Volunteer Visionaries, empowering others to engage and lead in their communities.
